2024 Nevada County Cannabis Harvest Recap

Nevada County is a lesser known enclave of cannabis culture tucked away within the Sierra Nevadas. A region well known for its ability to produce superb flavor in grapes, the unique terroir in the county makes it a powerhouse for craft cannabis cultivation. The high altitude and dry, warm climate create an ideal combination of stressors for metabolite production.

The soil is rocky and low fertility, with very diverse geology and volcanic soil. The uplift and erosion of the Sierra Nevada Mountains are foundational to the diverse soil composition in this region.

What was once a robust area for the Gold Rush is now a vibrant arts community with a deep value system of inclusion and wellness. It is home to over 100 arts organizations as well as the Nevada Theatre, the oldest in California. This extends radically into the cannabis community with an emphasis on regenerative practices and community engagement, especially in the Grass Valley area.

Nevada county is home to a diverse array of natural settings, from the Yuba river to incredible forests and grasslands. The diverse terrain and culture in the area makes for a beautiful synergy where unique cannabis genetics and practices can thrive, and contribute to a less physically bounded conception of the Emerald Triangle.

Unique geographical, terroir, microclimate features: “Our farm sits at 2,400 feet on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, within a Mediterranean climate that provides warm days and cool nights, enhancing terpene production and cannabinoid complexity. This unique combination of elevation, climate, and mindful cultivation creates a distinct microclimate and terroir for our craft cannabis.”

Notes on climatic growing conditions: ”This season was marked by a pleasant spring, setting the stage for a strong, healthy growing season. The Mediterranean climate brought minimal rainfall throughout the growing season, with mild heat and a dry fall allowing for an optimal finish. Fortunately, there were minimal fire dangers this year, and the consistent warm days and cool nights enhanced terpene development and cannabinoid expression, resulting in a balanced, high-quality crop.”
