Whitethorn Rose Hash Hole by Fire King

Do you have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the heavyweight?

The Muhammad Ali of prerolls has stepped into the ring. Fire King has followed up their success at the California State Fair (as collaborators on the Golden Bear winning Pink Jesus Hash Hole) with another winner: a Whitethorn Rose Hash Hole. As a die-hard Whitethorn Rose acolyte, it's tough not to see this product as the pinnacle expression of this famed cultivar. I mean, 1.5g of WTR flower infused with a half-gram snake of WTR solventless rosin? That'll get anyone ripped, regardless of tolerance.

Since 2010, Fire King has been handcrafting cannabis products to the highest possible standard up in San Francisco. They're the definition of "by connoisseurs, for connoisseurs", with a team uncompromising in their values of honoring the legacy of small-batch craft. You can feel this in their choice of farm partners, genetics, staff, even down to how this team shows up at industry events. They're there to educate you on techniques and share why certain choices matter during the production process, not just hype their newest releases. Take a look at their social media (@firekinghash) - the hash is the hero, while the team behind it all is barely mentioned. Only spy a single photo of Co Founders Jon Zaglin and Carey Grafmiler on there (and surprisingly none of their big ass sheep dog mascot, Applesauce).

Now, none of this would be possible without Huckleberry Hill Farms breeding WTR in the first place (Paradise Punch x Lemon OG) and Hogwash Pharms expertly growing the cannabis inside. John Casali and Huckleberry Hill have been covered endlessly by Budist alone, so I'll take a second to call out the work of Hogwash and their staggering 80+ years of combined cultivation experience, running their current farm since 1994. When you light up any of their work, you can guarantee that it was grown organically in in full sun from seed - and the difference is palpable, as this is some of the cleanest, terpy-ist weed out there. Founders Jill and Eric have been in this game since 1973. That speaks volumes to me.

Alright, enough setting the stage. Lets break into how it smoked.

From the second you pop the tube, you'll be seduced by an intoxicatingly delicious bouquet of aromas. Sweet roses and lavender, gas, skunky earthiness...very floral, certainly fruity (l'm getting peaches this time). The dry hit smacks with notes of orange Flintstones Push Pops and artificial sweetener while remaining funky and nuanced. Once lit, I was also getting baby powder.

Appearance-wise, I don't know how you beat this. Each one of these 12-gauge shotgun shells has been hand-rolled with love and burns down perfectly. Housing one of these by yourself is the ultimate luxury. We're talking nearly three hours of effects that had me deeply appreciating nature, zoning so hard into my book that felt a little like I was watching a movie, and at one point, making the world seem to move in slow motion.

If had the funds (they retail at ~$50), l'd keep these on deck at all times as my hash hole weapon of choice. Next time you're considering picking up a bottle of Laphroaig 10 Year or Châteauneuf-du-Pape to bring to a dinner party, I implore you, try one of these instead.

Fidel's may still be the biggest name in Hash Holes...but Fire King has delivered a knockout punch with this one.

99 points - and overall winner of the pre-roll category at the first-ever MJBowl! Satisfaction guaranteed.

Album Pairing: Led Zeppelin II

One of the greatest and most influential albums of all time, suitably epic for such a smoke. Need say more?
