I love a good sour gummy.  Something about that mouthwatering tartness that accompanies a chewy candy just makes me happy.  If you’ve read my reviews before, you also know that I am a big sativa fan.  I love edibles that provide an energetic, uplifting body effect combined with some cerebral energy.  That’s why I was so excited to try the new Kanha Sours Sour Island Breeze Gummies, made with Iced Lemonade Live Rosin.  The combination of the tropical flavor profile and the uplifting limonene and pinene terpene-laden effects of the Iced Lemonade Rosin gave me very high hopes for these gummies.  I wanted to find the perfect use case for these gummies, an activity where focus and energy were of the utmost importance.  Well last night, for my wife’s birthday, we went with a big group of friends to an event called Bingo Loco, which is a bingo game/rave/party/all-around great time.  I needed to be focused for the fast-paced bingo game, while having lots of energy for the rave/party section of the evening.  Hopefully these gummies would provide the effects I desired!

Each Kanha Sours gummy contains 10mg of THC with ten gummies in the package for a total of 100mg of THC.  This review is based on my Minimum Effective Dose (MED), or the smallest amount needed to achieve the desired effect.  My MED currently sits around 100mg, and I wanted to save one gummy for a video review I’m doing, so I consumed nine gummies for a total of 90mg of THC.  If you are unsure of your MED, it is recommended to start with 5mg of THC, or half of one gummy.  Wait 60 minutes, then incrementally add 5mg as needed.  Remember, your MED may change as your tolerance gets higher or lower.

The gummies come in a sleek looking black pouch with the Kanha logo on the front.  The package is labeled with the flavor of the gummy and the strain of the rosin used, as well as a note letting the consumer know that the gummies are made using nanotechnology, thus leading to a faster onset of effects (as little as 15 minutes).  The flavor profile is listed as “a bold blend of tropical flavors with tangy passionfruit and an orange-guava twist that evokes the refreshing sensation of an island breeze.”  Upon opening the package, these are precisely the notes that I pick up in the aroma.  Sticking my nose into the package, I am whisked away to a tropical isle full of warm breezes and swaying palm trees.  Only a slight scent of the live rosin can be detected, but even that provides notes of tropical citrus fruits.  The gummies are round, about the size of a penny and a ¼ inch thick.  They are an appealing orange color and are covered in a very light coating of sugar.  To the touch, they have the soft squishiness of a jelly candy, rather than the firmness of a gummy bear or fruit snack.  Placing that first gummy on my tongue, my mouth immediately begins to water from the citrusy tartness.  Expecting the slight grittiness of a jelly candy, I bit into the gummy to be pleasantly surprised.  Rather than the expected grittiness, I was met with a smooth, chewy gummy that had a perfectly toothsome mouthfeel without getting stuck in my teeth.  As opposed to other sour candies, where all the tartness comes from a sour powder on the exterior of the candy, the sourness here seemed to permeate the entire gummy. The flavor was also extremely on point.  Eating these gummies was like drinking a cold refreshing glass of POG juice on a warm sandy Hawaiian beach.  I could discern all elements of the flavor profile; the citrusy orange, the tropical guava and passionfruit and the tangy Iced Lemonade Live Rosin, all coming together to provide a delicious experience.

I ate the gummies after we filed into MidwaySF, about 30 minutes before Bingo Loco began.  By the time the show started, the uplifting cerebral energy had already begun to take hold.  My mind was energized, yet focused.  I was able to concentrate on the game (which isn’t easy with all of the extraneous sensory distractions) while maintaining a level of energy required to participate in all of the dancing, singing and canoodling that accompany an event such as Bingo Loco.  The cerebral energy moved down into my body and gave me the uplifting body energy that I associate with Iced Lemonade’s dominant terpenes of limonene and pinene.  These terpenes kept the cerebral effects from being too racy, and they kept the body energy flowing throughout the evening.  By the time the 2.5 hour Bingo Loco ended, I was still energized and ready to move on to the next venue.  The effects subsided after about four hours, and left me with a vigorous case of the munchies (I wasn’t hungry at all during Bingo Loco), which were satiated by splitting a delicious burger and brioche donuts with my wife at the bar we went to to continue the birthday celebration.

If you’re looking for a delicious, easy to consume edible that will provide the classic sativa effect, look no further than the Kanha Sours Sativa Sour Island Breeze Gummies, made with Iced Lemonade Live Rosin.  Everything about these gummies, from the aroma to the flavor to the texture to the effects, was near perfection.  I’m excited to try their hybrid and indica formulas of these sours, as I expect the flavor and effects will be just as on point as with the sativa formula.  Another fantastic product from Kanha!
