Event Recap: Hash Nouveau

A Sensory Journey into the Soul of California Cannabis
As cannabis inches closer to cultural legitimacy, we’re watching something deeper emerge: a desire not just to consume, but to connect. Hash Nouveau was an invitation to slow down, savor, and get to know cannabis in its purest form.
Through side-by-side tastings of solventless hash and the very flower it was made from, we offered guests a full-spectrum experience—from soil to oil. It was an ode to the plant and the people behind it. A way of saying: this isn’t just hash. This is history, craftsmanship, and California terroir—pressed into rosin and passed between hands.

Hosted at The Woods: Where Product Meets Purpose
There was no better venue for this experience than The Woods, a dispensary-meets-sanctuary co-founded by actor and longtime eco-activist Woody Harrelson. Woody has spent decades fighting for the planet. His work—whether planting trees or protesting Monsanto—reflects the same values we see in regenerative farms and solventless labs: stewardship, sustainability, and soul.
The Woods doesn’t just sell cannabis. It curates stories. Every product on the shelf has a backstory; every event in the space feels more like a gathering of minds than a marketing push. Hash Nouveau found its roots here—grounded in intention, authenticity, and a little magic under the Ganja Garden lights.

From Cultivation to Concentrate: Telling the Whole Story
At the core of Hash Nouveau was a tasting experience designed to celebrate the full arc of cannabis craftsmanship—from seed to concentrate, flower to function. Every brand was hand-selected not just for quality, but for their philosophy, process, and contribution to the evolution of connoisseurship in California.
On the flower side, we featured farms that embody integrity, terroir, and deep agricultural roots:
- Coastal Sun Farm offers certified organic, sungrown flower cultivated just inland from Santa Cruz.
- Huckleberry Hill Farms grows legacy strains on heritage land in Humboldt, stewarded across generations.
- Luma California blends regenerative practices with a refined aesthetic and narrative-driven cultivation.
- POET produces limited-batch varietals in living soil, always in tune with the natural rhythm of the plant.
- Sonoma Hills Farm applies a wine-country sensibility to its sungrown cannabis, leaning into the character of the Petaluma Gap.
On the hash side, we explored the diversity of solventless expression:
- 710 Labs continues to set the standard for in-house cultivation and elite full-melt rosin.
- Ay Papi brings a bold, collaborative energy and unmistakable flavor to every jar.
- Fire King Hash is known for its meticulous sourcing and cold-cured rosin with punch and personality.
- Hashish weaves together Mediterranean tradition and modern technique into a distinctly nuanced product.
- Jetty Extracts offers clean, accessible solventless that stays true to the plant.
- Papa’s Select transforms fresh-frozen Humboldt flower into award-winning live rosin rooted in the farmer's story.
- Rosin Tech remains a mainstay in the hash scene, delivering consistency and culture-forward innovation.
And rounding out the experience was Terpene Belt Farms, who brought a new dimension to the tasting with their live-capture, cannabis-derived beverage. Their product offered a refreshing take on terpene expression—delivering native California flavor profiles through a drinkable format that bridged science, nature, and creativity.
Consumption was as intentional as curation. Guests explored concentrates using high-performance tools from Dr. Dabber, Focus V, and PAX, each offering a different interpretation of precision and flavor. Flower Mill’s grinder technology ensured optimal prep, while OCB’s ultra-thin papers elevated the art of rolling for those who prefer combustion with clarity.
Together, these brands created a multi-sensory journey through modern cannabis—one rooted in curiosity, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the plant and its producers.
Why Events Like This Matter
In an era of scrolls and shortcuts, it’s rare to pause long enough to notice what we’re consuming—let alone appreciate where it came from. But that’s what events like Hash Nouveau are for. They remind us that cannabis, like wine or olive oil or single-origin coffee, is an agricultural product with a story to tell.
We created space for that story to unfold. Guests met the people behind the plants. They asked questions, swapped notes, and realized just how much intention goes into every jar, every gram, every hit. When you know the hands behind the hash, the experience becomes deeper, fuller, more human.

A Community Rooted in Curiosity
What made Hash Nouveau special wasn’t the lineup or the venue. It was the people who came.
Artists, growers, educators, chefs, founders, flavor enthusiasts—this was a room full of the curious. People who wanted to talk about trichomes and terpene curves. People who came with questions and left with a deeper respect for the plant.
These are the folks we’re building Budist for: people who care not just about what they consume, but why.
