This award-winning vape pen is a 3-way collaboration with a great back story! After presenting the MJBowl Trophy for the best overall vape at MJBizCon 2025 to the Natural Gas RAW Powered team, I had the chance to speak with both Josh Kesselman from RAW and David Petersen from Chico California Cannabis Company about the product journey in detail.
When Josh approached David and team at Chico California Cannabis Company (a Disabled Combat Veteran Owned Business) about making the “best vape ever," the team set out on a path to identify the combination of genetics, extracted oil, and hardware that would bring this to fruition. Ultimately, they landed on a combination of hardware from CCELL with solventless oil sourced from Terry Mines and the team at Hash and Flowers.
The Papaya version of the Natural Gas RAW Powered Hash Rosin Vape that won the 2025 MJBowl Competition is the subject of this review.
Starting with the packaging, I appreciate the minimalist profile that is primarily composed of recyclable materials. I had no trouble opening the container after pressing the child-proof button (as opposed to the adult-proof ones I’ve had to rip open!). The pen itself is very compact with a small window to view the oil inside and a USB-C charging port on the side.
Taking a draw on the vape, it takes a bit more force than average to inhale on this one, but the draw is very consistent and smooth, with larger pulls producing bigger clouds. A 2-4 second draw seems most effective to maintain the flavor profile - and what an amazing profile it is! The smoothness, flavor intensity and complexity of this vape are truly outstanding, with the papaya hitting you right away, backed up with the juicy taste of bubble gum and subtle notes of mango. There’s also a touch of something else sweet and floral, like lilac. These flavors really came to life accented by the very natural aroma of cannabis that fills the air in the room.
Scoring an overall 94 points, the device performed flawlessly over the duration of the vape usage and also delivered some outstanding effects. For me, I had a very balanced to relaxed feeling in my body, with a slightly more creative, euphoric and alert stance in my head. This is a great vape for puffing after a big workout, to relax after a stressful event, and at night to wind down.
I’ve also just had the opportunity to try another cultivar in this same hardware from the Natural Gas / RAW team and it too is living up to the award winning status! I’m looking forward to many more great products to come!
