🥉 3rd Place - Edibles - 2025 MJBowl

I have long been a big fan of Emerald Sky’s edible offerings. From their delectable Peanut Butter Cups, to their 100mg value gummies to their mouth-watering hard candies, every product they release is tasty and effective. As an edible judge for the inaugural MJBowl at MJBizCon, I was able to try their newest product, the Hybrid Milk Chocolate Peanut-Caramel-Nougat GrooveBar. I dare you read those words and not get excited. This was one I was greatly looking forward to. My wife and I were settling down for a Wednesday evening at home watching two of our favorite shows, Survivor and The Amazing Race, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to give these a try.

Each GrooveBar contains 10mg of THC with ten pieces in the package for a total of 100mg of THC. This review is based on my Minimum Effective Dose (MED), or the smallest amount needed to achieve the desired effect. My MED currently sits around 100mg of THC, so I consumed the entire package. If you are unsure of your MED, it is recommended to start with 5mg of THC, wait 90 minutes, then incrementally add 5mg as needed. Remember, your MED may change as your tolerance gets higher or lower.

Each GrooveBar comes individually wrapped so as to protect them from melting or sticking together. As I unwrapped the first piece, I was met with a tiny square morsel of chocolatey goodness. It looked like a chocolate covered caramel that you would find in a box of chocolates, with little flecks of salt on the outside. I bit into the first piece, and it was instantly one of the best chocolate edibles I’ve ever tasted. The combination of the rich chocolate, the crunchy peanuts, the chewy caramel and the smooth nougat, all accentuated by the tiny flecks of salt, was a melange of flavors and textures that was just pure bliss. It was as if Snickers actually made a cannabis-infused version, and I was getting to eat it.
I immediately went for a second piece, and a third, and a fourth. Before I knew it, I had eaten half the bag. Now I have quite the sweet tooth, and it's a good thing, because otherwise I’m not sure I could have made it through the entire package otherwise. I think these are more geared towards low to mid dose consumers, as eating ten of these things is no small feat (nor is it a healthy one, with ten pieces totaling 550 calories and 25 grams of fat, yikes). As a high dose consumer myself, this is not a product that I could consume on the regular, but rather as a special treat maybe a couple times a year. I could also use it to supplement THC from a product like a tablet or a tincture, just to give myself a little of that deliciousness without having to consume an entire bag.

I ate the GrooveBars at about 7pm, after I had given my early dinner some time to digest, with the hopes that I would begin to feel the effects before starting Survivor at 8. Just before 8:00, I noticed my body start to feel a bit more relaxed, as I sunk into the couch, settling in for the night to come. Shortly thereafter, I started to feel the effects in my head. They were light and focused, not at all racy or jumbled. I was able to concentrate [on] the shows as my body stayed relaxed throughout the entirety. The lightness of the effects could be attributed to the use of distillate rather than live rosin, which they use in some of their gummies, as I also notice similar effects from their Peanut Butter Cups. The flavor is the real winner here, as these are just so darn tasty.

Emerald Sky has done it again with these GrooveBars. If you want a mouth-watering, indulgent chocolate edible, these are for you. Don’t expect to be blown away by the effects, but I challenge you to find a more delicious chocolate edible out there. These would be good as a movie snack, where you could eat one every few minutes to keep the effects consistent throughout the experience. I could also see them being the right product for a picnic in the park, where you are just looking for a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine.
