Budist Judging Methodology

Farmers Cup has partnered with Budist to help standardize and elevate the judging process for this year’s Harvest Cup. The Budist team has developed their platform based upon the combined knowledge of 30 professional critics and judges, many of whom are Certified Ganjiers and have been judging cannabis competitions for several years.

Budist uses a 100-point rating system for evaluating and scoring cannabis products in each category. This scale is on par with internationally recognized rating systems utilized by many connoisseur goods industries, including wine, craft beer, chocolate and coffee.

96-100:  Best in Class
90-95: Outstanding
85-89: Very Good
80-84: Good
75-79: Average
70-74: Below Average

This 100-point system is used when evaluating competition entries based on these main factors:

Aroma: What is the strength and complexity of aroma?

Appearance: What is the visual appeal and condition of the product?

Flavor: What is the strength and complexity of flavor when consuming?

Experience: What is smokability, effects, and overall enjoyment of the product?

Detailed instructions for how to use this methodology will be provided to judges when they receive their Judge Kits. Budist will also host live virtual training sessions for judges who want to get more hands-on training led by professional cannabis critics and judges. Details will be provided via email once the judging period has begun.
